Ukraine’s deep strikes inside Russia have captured global attention, with many carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU) “Alpha” Special Operations Center.
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian oil infrastructure as part of its broader deep-strike campaign aimed at raising the economic and logistical costs of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Operations such as the strike on the Moscow Oil Refinery — which supplies around half of the Moscow region’s diesel — are bringing the war closer to Russians’ daily lives, according to an SBU officer with the call sign “Tourist.”
